Dr. Wells is a board certified rheumatologist and the director of the
Rheumatology and Immunotherapy Center in Franklin, WI. He is also an Adjunct
Assistant Professor at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He
received his MD from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in
Tampa, FL. He earned his PhD in immunology from the University of South
Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC.
Dr. Wells has over 20 years of research experience with an emphasis on
inflammatory disorders. His clinical efforts focus on the management and
treatment of all aspects of rheumatology with an emphasis on the use of
ultrasound in clinical practice. An internationally renowned speaker, Dr.
Wells has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, letters, book
chapters, and abstracts. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American
College of Rheumatology, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in
Dr. Wells has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the
University of South Carolina School of Medicine’s Distinguished Alumni Award
and the American College of Rheumatology Research Award. He has had grant
support from the Arthritis Foundation and from the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation. He currently is the principal investigator for a number of

Our Physician Assistants (PAs) are licensed providers in the state of Wisconsin and have been trained in the practice of rheumatology by Dr. Wells.
While each PA will discuss each patient case with Dr. Wells, she will be independently seeing patients, administering injections, prescribing medications, monitoring infusions, diagnosing and managing chronic disease processes, as well as determining appropriate treatment plans.
Please expect to alternate follow-up visits between a PA and Dr. Wells.

Introducing Dr. Wells two new associates, Donald Massenburg, MD, PhD and Olga Hornsby, PA-C. They have joined the Rheumatology and Immunotherapy Center to help serve the need of our rheumatology patients.
Donald Massenburg, MD, PhD
Dr Massenburg is a board certified rheumatologist. He received his MD from Duke University in 1997. He did his rheumatology fellowship at the University of Chicago. Dr. Massenburg's PhD is in biochemistry and biophysics. He is an experienced physician in all aspects of rheumatology with a special interest in systemic lupus.
Tristan Krause, APNP
Tristan Krause, APNP, is a graduate of Marquette University where he received his nursing degree, and masters in nursing. Along with practicing Rheumatology, Tristan will be placing special emphasis on treating diseases of the skin.
